The Marine Corps family stretches far and wide across the land, and when one family member is in need, MarineParents.com is there to help.
So when the Parris Island Officers’ Spouses’ Club asked for our help, we were happy to oblige. The PIOSC held a Bunko charity event to benefit Department of Defense schools in Beaufort, South Carolina, on April 27, 2012, and they needed items for the silent auction portion of that night’s activities.
MarineParents.com donated an array of items, from a Devil Dog bottle opener to a barbecue spatula, from sandstone coasters to Marine Corps koozies. In all, MarineParents.com donated more than $120 worth of merchandise from our EGA Shop.
Gretchen Barnett, 3rd Battalion Unit representative for PIOSC, reports that their basket with MarineParents.com items themed “Spirit and Discipline” – the 3rd Battalion motto – went for $245 during the silent auction. The entire fundraiser netted approximately $6,500 for the schools.
“It was our first auction, and we all have learned some things we can improve on for next year,” Gretchen wrote in an email to MarineParents.com. “I will definitely send your information on to our auction committee for next year. It was great communicating with you, and you were so kind and supportive. I really appreciated that!”
