Volunteer Position: Battalion Leader

We have one Battalion Leader (BL) per Marine Corps Recruit Training Battalion for both MCRD locations for a total of 7 Battalion Leaders working with the official Marine Parents Recruit Facebook groups at any one time. The Battalion Leader is responsible for overseeing the RTBN Facebook group assigned battalion the leadership of the volunteer Company Leader assigned to that battalion. The Battalion Leader reports directly to the MarineParents.com Director of Facebook Groups. Each battalion leader follows procedure and protocol for disseminating information to the company leaders.

BL Position Requirements:

  • Need to commit to at least two hours per day on Facebook
  • Comprehension of Official MarineParents.com Facebook Groups
  • Strong computer and Internet skills
  • Marine family member who has completed Marine Corps boot camp
  • Thorough knowledge of boot camp training matrix schedule
  • Thorough knowledge of Marine Parents and Recruit Parents website content
  • Knowledge of MarineParents.com, Inc. programs and services
  • Exceptional organizational skills and written communication skills
  • Trained in military Operations Security (OpSec) and MarineParents.com security and guidelines
  • Thorough knowledge of Marine Parents Facebook policies and guidelines
  • Past Marine Parents Company Leader experience preferred

BL Job Description

  • Oversee assigned battalion pages and volunteers
  • Training and leading assigned Company Leaders, Group Guides, and Platoon Parents
  • Sharing updates/changes/notifications to Battalion volunteers
  • Continuous study of Marine Corps history and boot camp structure
  • Be aware of changes in Marine Corps procedures via reading official announcements
  • Addressing violations on assigned battalion pages
  • Participate in monthly Battalion Leader telephone conference with Marine Parents Director of Facebook Groups
  • Participate in discussions regarding policy/procedure definitions
  • Offer ideas/suggestions for Marine Parents Facebook groups
  • Promote the EGA Store
  • Reply to Marine Parents Home Office member questions/issues
  • Provide back-up to assigned Battalion Leader
