Starting a Support Group: Questions to Ask Yourself
Are you ready to start a support group in your community? The members of your support group will rely on you for organization and often times support during difficult times. To find out if you're ready to take on this task and the expectations of your support group members, ask yourself these key questions:

  1. Do I have the resources to organize a support group?

  2. Do I have the time to organize a support group?

  3. Do I have someone willing to help me when I am unavailable?

  4. Am I willing to commit the time and energy to facilitate support group meetings?

  5. Am I emotionally stable enough to not only organize the group's existence but to facilitate the meetings as well?

  6. Will my stability change over the course of a loved ones deployment?

  7. How will I manage the support group during my own emotional ups and downs?
