Hello Marine Corps Families!
We're very excited about bringing you our first
MarineParents.com newsletter! In this edition we'll
give you some timely information regarding income
tax for Marines, links to our new message board
community on the topic of PTSD (Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder), new information on the April 2006
MarineParents.com conference in Houston, and a
request for help getting 350 cases of Girl Scout
Cookies® shipped to our Marines in Iraq and
Afghanistan.

The web site has new and updated information on
filing taxes for both deployed Marines and stateside
Marines for tax year 2005.
Did you know: Your deployed Marine is
also entitled to the "Combat Pay Exemption" which
states that he/she will not pay taxes on income
earned while deployed to a combat zone.

Shipping Girl Scout Cookies® to our Combat Deployed Marines!

We need your help with shipping costs...
This year, the Girl Scouts of Housatonic Council, Inc.
in Bridgeport, CT have donated 350 cases of Girl
Scout Cookies® to our Care Package Project™ (50
more cases than 2005!). We need to raise $5200 in
funds for costs of shipping the cases of cookies to
our Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please help us
reach our goal and make a donation today.

2006 Conference Attendees to receive acclaimed PTSD book from authors

Dr. Bridget Cantrel and Chuck Dean to present at conference
All conference attendees will receive a copy of the
book Down Range: to Iraq and Back. The book
addresses PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) for
our military personnel returning from combat.
Attendees will have an opportunity to attend a panel
discussion with the authors Bridget C. Cantrell, Ph.D.
and Chuck Dean in Houston on Saturday, April 22.

Recovering from Combat: New Discussion Group for PTSD

We've added a new section to the web site to
address the topic of "Recovering from Combat".
Recovering from combat may include both physical
injuries and psychological or emotional injuries.
