Dear Marine Corps Family,

If this is the first edition of the MarineParents.com Newsletter you have received, WELCOME! If you are a returning reader we are glad you have joined us. We thank you for your support and hope that we can support you.

August is often a month for family gatherings and vacations. Our sons and daughters deployed around the world will not be forgotten during these events. Their dedication to our country is sincerely appreciated.

We've got a few battalions gearing up for homecoming. Check out the bottom of the newsletter for our homecoming T-shirts for 3/8, 3/3, 1/10, 1/4, 11th MEU, 3rd LAR and 1/14.

You can Help an Injured Marine!

Cards and letters are needed.
Injured Marine

Operation PAL™: Prayers and Letters is a new project started by MarineParents.com, Inc. in support of our active duty Marines who have been injured or become ill while in combat or upon return from combat. Our goal is to provide support to injured Marines in the form of Prayers and Letters. We try to reach 100 cards sent to each Marine that is on our Operation PAL™ list.

Marines Helping in Beirut

Marines of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit
Beirut Marines

BEIRUT, Lebanon (July 26, 2006) -- When Marines of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit left Camp Lejeune, N.C., and set sail with the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group in early June, they left with thoughts of continuing the war on terror and bringing the fight to the foes of freedom.

Six weeks later they found themselves in a war zone, in the middle of a fight that wasn’t theirs, aiding American citizens anxious to leave Lebanon.

$1 Care Package Campaign

Support Our Troops with Care Packages

For this first time ever, we were short on funds to send the care packages overseas to our Marines this July. We postponed our packing day to August 12 and put out a request for folks to send $1 in an envelope to help us close the $2500 gap. We've exceeded our goal and are now working toward our next care package packing date.
