Vote for Marine and Singer Mike Corrado
On My Watch Tonight
Mike Corrado Marine Singer song writer On my watch tonight

Mike has entered his song and video "On My Watch Tonight" in a video competition for military personnel on FameCast.com. It is currently in 2nd place and the voting ends 23 July. The song is the story of a young Marine's journey from boot camp to the front lines and one that can relate the message of why we serve. Mike was also our music guest for our 2007 conference in St. Louis, Missouri in April.

Let's give Mike a hand and show him we support his service as a Marine and his work writing songs for military families.

Purple Heart Hero Support™
Another Successful lunch for families at Bethesda Naval Hospital
Purple Heart Hero Support™Purple Heart Hero Support™ sponsored another successful luncheon at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD on Saturday, July 7th.

Volunteers from MarineParents.com provided the lunch to Marines and their families who are at the hospital recovering from injuries or illness. With some Marines needing weeks and months to recuperate at Bethesda, having a meal of burritos, chips, salsa, salad and soda brought in was greeted with smiles from both the Marines and their parents, spouses and kids at the hospital. Having the lunch in the common room in the hospital also gave everyone a chance to socialize with other patients, families and the volunteers There were lots of laughs and stories being told.

As one Marine told the volunteers, "Events like this help me stay positive for my kids, and I need to do that because I need to set the example for them that sitting in bed feeling sorry for myself is not going to make it better. I need to get home to them." Purple Heart Hero Support™ will be having another lunch at Bethesda on July 21st and donations to help pay for the cost of food are greatly appreciated.

$1 Care Package Campaign
We're almost there! We've raised $3116 toward our goal of $4950!
$1 Care Package Campaign

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to each of the folks making donations to help us reach our goal for shipping costs of 1000 care packages this August!  We've made incredible progress--reaching over 60% of our goal thus far.

With increased costs for shipping our care packages to Iraq, and the increased number of packages we are sending, we are short on funds to send the care packages overseas to our Marines this August. Our total cost for shipping in August will be $8950. We need your help today!

Our next scheduled packing date is August 25, 2007. We're asking every web site visitor to send a $1 bill to MarineParents.com to help us raise the balance needed to ship 1000 care packages to our Marines. Put a dollar bill in an envelope and put it in the mail to our post office box. Our goal is to raise $4950 by the packing date of Saturday, August 25, 2007.

Please consider making a donation and encourage your friends, co-workers and family to do the same! MarineParents.com, Inc. is an IRS approved  501(c)(3) public charity eligible to receive charitable contributions. Every donation is acknowledged with a receipt.

Homecoming and Deployments

HomecomingTools and Resources for Homecoming Planning

We have several battalions preparing for retrograde, or homecoming, from combat zones. This section of the web site offers several tools for you to help prepare for your Marine's homecoming. Many family members have worries and concerns about PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and COSR (Combat Operations Stress Reaction). This section of the web site offers information and resources to help understand these issues as well as a workbook to use in preparation for the emotions of homecoming.

Deployments: Locate Your Marine's Unit Information
EGAEvery Marine is assigned to a unit or battalion in the Marine Corps. Often, finding information about that particular unit can be challenging. Our database includes virtually every unit in the Marine Corps and includes base locations, current station, phone numbers, the unit FRO (Family Readiness Officer, a contact for family members), and links to the unit's message boards and chat night schedule.

Team Marine Parents™
We're gearing up and ready to show communities that we support our troops!

Team Marine Parents BrochureTeam Marine Parents™ participants are well into their training programs for their upcoming events. Currently we have eight individuals signed up for the full 26.2 mile Marine Corps Marathon on October 28th in Washington DC. Four individuals are signed up for the Marine Corps 10K on that same date and two brave souls signed up for the Boot Camp Challenge on October 6th at MCRD San Diego. More are welcome to join us!

Each participant chooses a financial goal and a Marine Parents Support Service to fundraise for. The money will benefit the Care Package Project™, Operation PAL™ and Purple Heart Hero Support.™.

These folks have different reasons for taking on this challenge but one thing is sure, they are putting in long hard hours to train for their events and they are passionate about helping Marines.

We invite you to to leave words of encouragement for our team members during their training. Please visit the Team Marine Parents™ forum link below:

Letter Drive for Marines in Iraq
Grab a pen and paper to write letters of support to our Marines and we'll send them to Iraq for you!

Letters to Support Our Troops Marine LetterEach of the 1100 care packages we'll send to Iraq this August 25th includes a card or letter addressed to "Dear Marine". We need cards and letters from you, the American people that support our troops.   During the school year, we get plenty of letters from children for our care packages. It's summer time and we are low on letters! We need your help.

Please consider working with your office, school, church or organization to make cards or write letters to include in each package. The Marines are especially touched by homemade cards from children, or letters that let them know what's going on back home: what books, movies, and music are coming out, or what your day-to-day life is like. Or write a letter to let them know what you're doing here at home to support the troops!

My son was glad to have everything in one place and I was thrilled to see them organized for safekeeping. The zippered cases make great graduation gifts for recruits or great gifts for active-duty or retired military.

MarineParents.com, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity. MarineParents.com, Inc. was founded in January, 2003 in response to parents' needs to find information and to Connect & Share™ with one another during deployments. Our free online services and connections have expanded to support and educate Marine moms & dads, spouses, families and friends and we'll be offering the 3rd Annual National Conference in Washington DC, 2008. We've helped over 30,000 Marine and recruit families during bootcamp, training, active duty and deployments. We've shipped thousands of care packages overseas to our Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, sent thousands of prayers and letters to injured Marines and served hundreds of lunches to families caring for their Marines at Bethesda Hospital. You've found a Place to Connect & Share™.
