Marines Return From Afghanistan

Welcome Home 3/8!CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -
They had been waiting for months, and now - they just had a few more moments.

Friends and families of the Marines of 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, sought shade under tents during the day and cover from the rain at night while they bided their time before they could reunite with their loved ones.

The unit returned home, June 4, after leaving for Afghanistan in November, where they played a key role in the renewed effort to support Operation Enduring Freedom, said Maj. Brian Mulvihill, executive officer, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marines.

Free Care for Returning Veterans

The concept was developed by ICA's Southern Regional Director Dr. R.J. Kelly. See his message to veterans below:

Gold Star Family Support™
Honoring Fallen Marines and Their Families

Gold Star Family Support from MarineParents.comMany of us avoid thoughts of Gold Star Families because the mere idea of a Marine not coming home from a combat zone is simply too heart-wrenching.

As Marine families and supporters, we need to be strong when it comes to our Fallen Marines and we must honor them by keeping their memories alive.

As part of Marine Parents' outreach program, Gold Star Family Support™, an "In Memory of..." section of the Gold Star Families web site was created. The section contains Events, Scholarships, Foundations and Memorials all formed In Memory of Fallen Marines.

Check the section periodically for new additions and contact us if you have an event, scholarship, foundation or memorial to add.

Must-see Movie "Taking Chance"
When one falls, another brings him home

Must-see Movie Taking ChanceBased on a true story, "Taking Chance" conveys Lt. Col. Michael Strobl's journey as he escorts Lance Cpl. Chance Phelps home from war.

This movie sheds light on military rituals for honoring our Fallen Heroes and communicates common reactions of everyday Americans when faced with those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Sending Care Packages to Your Deployed Marine
Host Country Restrictions

Host Country Restrictions on Care PackagesEach country, and even FPO-AP zip codes within those countries, have different restrictions for what is allowed to be mailed to that country.

This is based on the laws in the country of destination and we strongly advise adherance to the restrictions and regulations.

Generally speaking, packages sent to the middle east are not allowed to contain any pork products, alcohol, or materials that would be deemed pornographic by the host country.

MarineParents.com, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) public charity. MarineParents.com, Inc. was founded in January, 2003 in response to parents' needs to find information and to have a Place to Connect & Share™ with one another during deployments. Our free online services and connections have expanded to support and educate Marine moms & dads, spouses, families and friends and we'll be offering our 5th Conference in San Diego in April, 2009. We've helped over 40,000 Marine and recruit families during bootcamp, training, active duty and deployments. We've shipped thousands of care packages overseas to our Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, sent thousands of prayers and letters to injured Marines and served hundreds of lunches to families caring for their Marines at Bethesda Hospital. You've found a Place to Connect & Share™.
