United States Marine Corps: The Few, The Proud, The Marines

Our daughter Natalie Mikel was born January 29th 2003, 12 days after my husband, Chris, left for Iraq. Natalie weighed 6 pounds 7 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. She is in perfect health, with a head full of beautiful hair. The photo to the left is big sister Grace holding her Marine daddy's photo.

I phoned the Red Cross the day of her birth, and they contacted Marine Daddy immediately. He was able to call the hospital the very day she was born! I have sent him many pictures. She is now 5 1/2 months old, and absolutely wonderful. Hopefully daddy will be home before her 1st birthday, possibly October or November.

Although I am a wife, this site has been a tremendous way of support for me, and I thank you so very much.

Submitted by Mom Kristina, Marine Wife to Chris and Big Sister Grace who celebrated her 2nd birthday in February this year.

The photos below are daddy in Iraq with some of the children he has met. The little boy on the left became very close with Chris and his platoon. The little girl on the right spoke English, thanked Chris, and gave him a kiss.
