Marine Parents was built on volunteer hours, time, dedication and support. Our mission is two-fold: provide support to Marines, military personnel, and their family members, and give people in communities across our great nation opportunities to support the troops. In ten years of service, part two of our mission, with volunteers representing nearly every state, has logged an estimated 200,000 volunteer hours.
Our country’s commitment to support the troops has increased a thousand-fold compared to just a few years ago. This is evidenced by the sheer volume of organizations with troop support as part of their mission, and the number of volunteer hours in service to the troops. Marine Parents is proud to add over 18,000 hours to that pool of service in 2012; hours our volunteers contributed in support of the troops and their families.
April 21-27, 2013 is National Volunteer Week. We want to take this time to thank each and every volunteer who works for MarineParents.com for their dedication to our military and their families. Their service for our great nation is paramount to the success of our troops both stateside and abroad, and to the emotional well-being of their family members at home. I know those of you reading understand very well how important our volunteers’ work is.
During this week, numerous nonprofit organizations will present Presidential Volunteer Service Awards to volunteers all over the nation. We’re proud to present 40 awards to 38 volunteers this year: two lifetime awards, 11 gold awards, nine silver awards, and 18 bronze awards. These folks work hard to support our troops and their families!
I’d like to ask that you take a moment to leave a note of thanks for these incredibly dedicated, compassionate and hard-working volunteers. Each one would tell me “No thanks are necessary” but I’d like to show each of them just how important they are to you, and how much I know you appreciate their hard work. There’s a link in the beige box at the top right for leaving a note of thanks.
Again, to each of our volunteers, thank you for your work and dedication to the organization, our military and their families. And congratulations for a job well-done!
God Bless and Semper Fi,
