 FBI OPSEC Warning
Added December 10, 2014

Most online communities, including those that are "military" by design, do NOT have a way to assure that every member has the same goal of safety and security for our Marines and military personnel. Knowledge is power; the enemy does not need to know anything other than our Military is ready to act and defend.

 Commdant Dunford's 2014 Birthday Message
Added October 31, 2014

In 1921, the thirteenth Commandant of the Marine Corps, Major General John A. Lejeune, issued Marine Corps Order No. 47. This order summarized the history, mission, and traditions of the Marine Corps and was to be read to all Marine commands throughout the world each year on the 10th of November. It is now referred to as the "Marine Corps Birthday Message", and it is issued by the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

 November is Military Family Month
Added October 31, 2014

While the sacrifices made and hardships endured by our service members are well-documented, a related aspect that many people may not think about as often are the sacrifices made and hardships endured by military families as well.

This year, we will be packing 300 "Birthday Boxes" on our November 1, 2014 packing day at the Marine Parents corporate office in Columbia, MO and we need YOU to write "Happy Birthday" cards to Marines to include in these Birthday Boxes.

 September is Suicide Prevention Month
Added September 2, 2014 joins organizations across the country to recognize September as Suicide Prevention Month.

We have been in touch with far too many veterans and veteran families affected by suicide – from suicide attempt survivors to families mourning the unbearable loss of their loved one to suicide.

Our Marine Parents Founder said it best: “One suicide is too many. One more suicide is too late.”

 Join Their Fight
Added August 25, 2014

By our estimates, over half of the servicemembers who have served in combat since 9/11 now have or will have critical health needs as a direct result of being deployed to a combat zone. While the statistics are alarming, the aftermath of war and health battles being waged upon return have remained the same for generations.

With that in mind, we need YOU to help us raise $78,000 to provide 500 WII Warrior Reintegration Bags to wounded, ill, and injured service members in rural areas and others in need.

Help Our Marines Beat the Heat!
Added June 20, 2014

Even though Marines are tougher than most of us, they still get hot (especially when summer temperatures in Afghanistan routinely hover around 110 degrees), and it's our goal to help keep them cool and comfortable this summer.

We'll be packing 400 care packages for Marines in Afghanistan this July 19 and we want to include Frogg Toggs and high-electrolyte drink mix tablets for our heroes in each box. Our deployed Marines need to know that we're behind them, and we need your help to meet our goal!

 Thank Marine Parents Volunteers!
Added April 22, 2014

Marine Parents was built on volunteer hours, time, dedication and support. Our mission is two-fold: to provide support to Marines, military personnel, and their family members, and to give people in communities across our great nation opportunities to support the troops.

We are truly grateful for the time, energy, skill, dedication and Esprit de Corps offered by so many generous and hard-working volunteers.

Though the volunteers of Marine Parents do not commit their time and energy with the expectation of receiving awards, recognition and thank you notes, celebration of their volunteer work is deserved.

Military Appreciation Month 500 Flags Campaign
Added April 10, 2014

By the end of 2014 all American troops are scheduled to be withdrawn from Afghanistan, and the longest military conflict in our country's history will finally come to an end.

To commemorate this historic moment, we'd like to offer Marine supporters the opportunity to purchase an American flag to send to Afghanistan at our April 26 Care Package Project pack day in honor of Military Appreciation Month in May.

The idea is simple-we pack and ship 500 American flags to 500 deployed Marines on our next pack day so those Marines are able to fly their flag over their last base in Afghanistan before this tour of duty ends.

The Few, The Proud, The Montford Point Marines
Updated February 24, 2014

Unfortunately, there was a time when acknowledging and thanking African-American Marines for their service was not possible, as African-American Marines did not exist due to the institutionalized racism of the Corps and American society in general. That all changed, however, due to a Presidential order and a group of proud, eager, patriotic young men who refused to take "no" for an answer--the "Montford Point Marines".

 Scam Alert
Added January 31, 2014

It has recently been brought to our attention that an individual or individuals have launched a scam targeting folks who support the military. An individual is asking people to send money via Western Union to a site in Texas under the pretense that the money will then be transferred to the accounts of individual Marines in Afghanistan for use in the barracks store. This is simply not true, as no legitimate organization would solicit donations in such a manner. To avoid falling victim to scams such as this, we highly recommend ONLY giving to an approved 501(c)(3) organization, as this way you can be sure your donation is going where you want it to.

 Happy Anniversary Marine Parents!
Added January 21, 2014

Today, Tuesday, January 21, we celebrate our 11th anniversary here at We've come a long way since 2003, and whether you've been with us since the beginning or you've just recently found us, we greatly appreciate all that you, the Marine Parents family, do for our Marines. For eleven years, we've been standing with you during your Marine's career in the Corps, during every phase, from boot camp to deployment to homecoming to recovery to veteran status. Together we've learned about the Marine Corps and been given opportunities to connect and share with one another in hopes of "getting closer" to our sons and daughters.

Through all of the ups and downs of the last eleven years, you've been there for us and, more importantly, for our Marines. During that time, thanks to your love and support, more than 38,000 care packages have been sent to deployed service members, more than 87,000 cards and letters have been sent, and thousands of meals have been served, to Wounded Heroes, and countless families and individuals have sought and found comfort, answers, and strength in the Marine Parents community. With your ongoing support, we know that we can make 2014 our most successful year yet. God Bless and Semper Fi!

 2014 Souper Hero Campaign

Marines are our super heroes every day. For the next two weeks, it's time to return the favor and to be their "Souper Heroes" as we try to reach our goal of raising $10,000 by Friday, Januray 24, so we are able to purchase the necessary supplies to keep our deployed Marines warm this winter. It may seem like a lofty goal, but with your kindness and generosity, we can reach it in no time!

Medal of Honor Petition Falls Short
Added January 8, 2014

On April 22, 2008, two Marine riflemen, Cpl. Jonathan Yale and LCpl. Jordan Haerter, were manning a security checkpoint in Ramadi, Iraq when a suicide bomber driving a tanker truck filled with explosives began to speed toward the gate they were guarding. As the Iraqi policemen who were on guard duty with them fled, the two Marines ran into the truck's path and opened fire, prompting the driver to slow down and detonate the approximately 2,000 lbs of explosives in the truck. The two Marines were killed in the explosion but by preventing the driver from reaching the gate, they saved the lives of more than 50 people.
