Dear Tracy,
If this is the first edition of the MarineParents.com Newsletter you have received, WELCOME! If you are a returning reader we are glad you have joined us.
One week from today, the Marine Parents corporate office will be moving into the warehouse side of our new office. Despite our best efforts, we were not able to finish the office side by our June 30 deadline. But with incredible teamwork from myriads of volunteers in Missouri, and donations of materials and labor from dozens of companies and organizations, we were able to not only continue work on the full renovation, but build a temporary office location in the warehouse as well.
Our Marines are our inspiration for the teamwork it takes to do something as monumental as the renovation. Our Marines are our inspiration to work together as a team to support one another during bootcamp, deployments and every other stage of their military career. Marine Corps Family Teamwork--it's our way of life.
Thank you for your continued support of one another, our Marines past and present, and of MarineParents.com, the organization.

Gunny Pop Signs More Copies! |
|
Limited Quantity - Once a Marine
The signed copies we originally had of Once a Marine sold so fast that Gunny Pop graciously agreed to sign additional copies.
" The book is well written and a pleasure to read. You'll feel like you've got an inside look at the inner workings of a Marine's mind. An amazing Marine's mind."

New Informational Pages! |
|
Specific Info for Overseas Locations
Have a Marine overseas? Want to know more about the location? Wonder what time it is there? What the temperature is?
Our volunteers work hard researching accurate and reliable sources to bring you information that pertains to you and your Marine.
We recently developed a "Specific Location Information" section which includes: Afghanistan, Africa, Iraq, Kuwait and Okinawa. The beige box on the right-hand side of each page makes navigating from one location to another a breeze.
Visit the new section now and start learning more about overseas locations.
Note: If there is additional information you'd like to see added to these pages, let us know. We would love to have feedback from our Marine families about what life is like for our Marines in these countries. Contact us at: research@marineparents.com |

Exercise Northern Edge |

Marines Work Together with Air Force
EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, AK -
Pacific Command's Exercise Northern Edge 2009 is allowing more than 200 aircraft the opportunity to train in nearly 120,000 square miles of airspace above interior Alaska and the Gulf of Alaska.
With the numerous aircraft in the air and massive amounts of mileage to cover during the 11-day exercise, one of the most important support billets the pilots have covering their six is the bulk fuel specialist.
Marine Wing Support Squadron 171 from Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, currently has Marines cross training and working side-by-side with the Air Force to ensure the pilots are taken care of as expediently and safely as possible.

MRP: Medical Rehabilitation Platoon
Medical Rehabilitation Platoon, or MRP, is the platoon that recruits are assigned to if they are injured or become ill during recruit training.
Recruits do become ill or may become injured. Your recruit will be given the best medical care available, with doctors and teams of hospital personnel to assure your recruit is well-cared for and getting the medical attention s/he needs. There will be no expense to the recruit for medical procedures or prescriptions. S/he will continue to receive full pay for time spent in MRP.
You may get a short phone call from your recruit if s/he has been assigned to MRP.
