Our volunteers work in a variety of different positions for each of our services and outreach programs. Some of our volunteers work only online, and others work only as "boots on the ground" in several state-side locations.
We're looking for a new kind of volunteer at Marine Parents. Specifically, parents or family members who can represent the organization in their local communities and keep the recruiting offices informed of the good works we do. If you're interested, we'd love to hear from you. Click here to learn more about volunteering here.
Online Support Services
MarineParents.com offers "a place to connect and share®" online through Marine Family Network or MFN.
MFN is run 100% by volunteers, from moderators to managers to board members. MFN simply would not exist without the volunteers. MFN volunteer moderators complete extensive training in Operational Security (OpSEC) before starting their volunteer work. Then, MFN volunteers dedicate countless hours to the moderation of the online community and responding to questions and concerns submitted by Marine and/or recruit families. MFN volunteers have a large knowledge base and can assist concerned family members with questions related to boot camp, deployment and more.

Outreach Programs: Purple Heart Hero Support
Purple Heart Hero Support is managed by a lead Manager and two Assistant Managers on both the east and west coasts for a total of six volunteer managers.
“What your organization brings to the barracks is…important. You are there every week. We know and love you guys, and you bring that touch of home to us all. You're all our parents away from home.”
—A wounded hero in the program
Purple Heart Hero Support managers and support volunteers must possess a unique set of skills. They serve meals to wounded heroes and their families, and, more importantly, they engage in the often-difficult recovery process of many wounded heroes and their family members. Purple Heart Hero Support volunteers provide fellowship and a strong support system to help alleviate feelings of fear, confusion, anxiety, and anger.
Outreach Programs: Operation Prayers and Letters
Operation Prayers and Letters is managed by a Volunteer Manager.
The Volunteer Manager of Operation Prayers and Letters works tirelessly to organize, track, and mail all of the support and gratitude cards and letters to the injured heroes who participate in the program. The Volunteer Manager also writes and creates a monthly newsletter for all those involved to stay up-to-date on the program’s wounded heroes.
