Betsy Woodall is a proud mom, wife, sister, and daughter residing in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, and adjusting to life as an empty nester. Her son, Declan, was part of Fox Company during boot camp, and while he was pursuing his dream at Parris Island, her daughter, Eloise, was studying abroad in Paris France. Two kids, both in a very different type of Parris/Paris, both taking charge of their destiny in very different ways. Betsy and her husband love to travel and take life in the slow lane, although Betsy would be very happy in a muscle car if afforded the opportunity. In her spare time, Betsy can be found reading a book by the fire pit in her backyard, losing herself in a 1500+ piece jigsaw puzzle, or sharing social media memes with her kids.

Service is part of Betsy’s lifeline. Her father served in the US AirForce, her grandfather was an Army paratrooper, and her grandmother was a nurse in the Army. Both grandparents received full military honors, including a horse-drawn caisson and band during their funeral services at Arlington National Cemetery. It was a very moving occasion. As her son pursued ROTC in high school, she wondered how life would be different if she had pursued a trajectory within the military. Thus, when the call for volunteers through MarineParents presented itself, she jumped at the opportunity to give back to other family members experiencing the range of emotions she felt when her son left for boot camp. The support of this volunteer team was professional and unparalleled, offering timely information, guidance, and structure, all along the 13-week journey. When she realized this continued throughout the Marine lifecycle, it was a sealed deal. This is a great way to stay connected to the military and support the families of Marines.
