Volunteer Spotlight - Jennifer Ackerbauer

Today we shine the spotlight on Jennifer Ackerbauer!

Jennifer has been a volunteer with MarineParents since October 2018. She is currently the Group Leader for our Region 5 North East group and a Group Guide for MoMs.

We asked Jennifer to share her personal experience as a volunteer:

Why did you decide to volunteer with MarineParents?

"I decided to volunteer with Marine Parents because I wanted to help other people. I wanted to help people the way that Marine Parents helped me."

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with MarineParents?

"What I find most rewarding is when members in our groups say Thank you! That thank you means that you helped them by either answering a question or just being that person that understands and is supporting them."

What would you say to someone who is interested in volunteering?

"I would say it is one of the most rewarding things that I have done. At first you may be thinking, how can I make a difference? That question is now easy for me to answer, it is just being you. You will meet so many great people along this journey. You may be thinking, I don't know enough about the Marine Corps, well do not worry. We all don't know everything, and if you have questions there is a great support staff that will guide you and help you along the way. I would also say, you should jump on board, I promise you, you will not regret it."

With 836 volunteer hours since October 2017, we thank Jennifer for her time and dedication to the members of our MarineParents groups! OOH-RAH!! MarineParents could not do this without our amazing volunteers!
