Marine Corps Permanent Duty Stations

When formal training (boot camp, School of Infantry, and military occupational schooling) is complete, each Marine is assigned to a Permanent Duty Station (PDS).

Your Marine may be stationed at any number of permanent duty stations around the world, depending on his or her Military Occupational Specialty (the job that your Marine will do while in the Corps).

The following is a list of different types of Permanent Duty Stations (PDS), and which bases fall under that category.

Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD)

The bases where recruits are trained located in San Diego, CA and Parris Island, SC.

• Parris Island
• San Diego

Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC)

This applies to 29 Palms, which operates as a Marine Corps Base (MCB) but is designated more so for training purposes.

• 29 Palms

Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB)

Located in Albany, GA and Barstow, CA. The main purpose of these two bases is to repair ground combat and combat support equipment on each coast.

Marine Corps Base (MCB)

These are the main duty stations for Marines where they perform their everyday job duties.

• Camp Butler
• Hawaii
• Camp LeJeune
• Camp Pendleton
• Quantico

Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS)

These duty stations consist mainly of Marines with an aviation Military Occupational Specialty (MOS).

• Beaufort
• Cherry Point
• Futenma
• Iwakuni
• Miramar
• New River
• Camp Pendleton
• Yuma

Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)

The smallest type of Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF). MEU's combine air and ground combat elements under one commander.

• 11th MEU
• 13th MEU
• 15th MEU
• 22nd MEU
• 24th MEU
• 26th MEU
• 31st MEU

Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF)

The largest type of MAGTF and the building block of the Marine Corps combat power.

• I MEF
• II MEF
• III MEF

Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB)

This is a MAGTF built around a reinforced infantry regiment, an aircraft group, and a Brigade Service Support Group.
